Hello! It’s been a little while since I last posted, I’ve been slack recently due to a multitude of factors. One being laziness. But I hope to be posting more frequently again soon.
I wanted to take this moment (CHEESY!) to say a big thankyou to all my readers and blogosphere pals, I was very happy recently to see that one of my latest posts has gotten 40 likes. I’ve never even had more than 4 likes on a Facebook post so that’s really impressive for me. Kidding, I’ve had like.. 10 before.
Also, recently the hilarious dudes over at Stuff And That were kind enough to nominate me for a Liebster award, so I thought I’d answer their quirky questions and then leave the floor open with some questions for all you lot to answer too. So, here I go:
1. Pitch Your Dream Movie. Actors, directors, plot, whatever. (special thanks to filmsCine for coming up with that one)
Alright! Glad to get a chance to answer my own question, because I’ve been thinking about this!! I would like to see a biopic about Tom Waits the musician, with Ron Perlman playing the lead. Because he weirdly looks like him.
2. Most/Least Favourite Movie
Most favourite movie – Closer (see my review of it over at Lazy Sunday Movies – shameless plug) Least favourite movie … Death Race 2. I will not even waste my finger energy typing reasons why.
3. Most/Least Favourite Game
Most favourite game: the OG Metal Gear Solid, probably. Least favourite… Spyro. He’s just one annoying dragon.
4. Most/Least Favourite Band
Most favourite band… that’s a hard one! There’s so many. I would have to say Mumford and Sons is up there. Least favourite: I’m thinking Little Mix right now.
5. How, or why, did you get into blogging? And what are your favourite aspects of it?
I just wanted a place where I could talk (write) about movies without being interrupted!
6. Last crime you committed?
I do not think I should say. Actually, alright. I killed somebody last night. They are in the boot of my car. They were robbing my house. And as a blind person, I am really not going to accept that. I’m not as vulnerable as they thought.
7. Dream supergroup?
What, like superheroes? Or…? Band? Like Spice Girls? They were a supergroup.
8. Favourite book?
I love the true crime books by the FBI profiler John Douglas. Quiet by Susan Cain is also great, it’s like a study of introvert…ism. But I don’t read that much at all.
9. Favourite hobbies beside blogging and doing what you blog about?
I like art, sketching and painting. And I also enjoy scuba diving.
10. Favourite thing about Stuff And That? (give us praise)
You guys are seriously funny. And I love the variety in your blog.
11. Least favourite thing about Stuff And That? (tell us we’re crap)
YOU’RE CRAP. No, you’re not. At all.
Here’s my questions for everyone – please copy and paste in the comments section:
- If you had to pick one celebrity to run the world (I mean have complete control over EVERYTHING), who would you pick?
- Tea or coffee and why?
- What is Mulholland Drive actually about, if you’ve seen it?
- Has Tom Hanks ever given a poor performance?
- Which film character would you like to trade places with for one hour and one hour only?
- Why is unhealthy food so good?
- Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why?
- Have you ever met anyone famous?
- What’s outside the Universe?
- What’s one of your pet hates?
- Anything else to add?
PS. Do not be shy, we’re all friends here. If I see anyone liking this post and then not answering the questions, I will find you. And I will kill you. I’m kidding. In a way.
Here goes…
1) Eddie Izzard of course.
2) Mostly coffee, for the taste. But red wine for choice.
3) I have seen it. But I can’t tell you what it’s about because David told me not to.
4) In almost every film he has been in. (He plays Tom Hanks very well though…)
5) Susan Sarandon’s character Sarah Roberts, in ‘The Hunger’. (Work it out)
6) It’s all the sugar and salt they put in it. YUM YUM!
7) Because it is so personal and historical, this one.
https://beetleypete.wordpress.com/2012/08/15/going-to-the-pictures/
8) A few minor celebs, when I was in the London Ambulance Service. (Names available privately by email, so I don’t get sued…)
9) The Outiverse.
10) Baseball caps on British people who know nothing about baseball.
11) I never learned to swim.
Hope that covers it, FC.
Best wishes, Pete.

Great answers as usual my friend. I think we’ve had the correspondence before re: Tom Hanks.. or maybe I read it in one of your posts.. But I know you find him overrated. That’s the sort of discussion that could cause a nuclear war! Oooooo. I sooo want the celeb names via email.

I liked ‘The Changeling’, but that’s about it for her, I’m afraid. I think she can act when she wants to, but I just don’t like a lot of her role choices.

2. The blackest of teas. I work at a Coffee Bar one day a week and I have no idea what the differences between coffees are.
3. I have no idea, all I know is it’s a Lynch film and Naomi Watts + other actress have a sex scene. I should really suggest watching it this Christmas with the whole fam.
4. No. Even in his worst performances, he’s fantastic.
5. Marie during the final scene in The Bourne Identity. Having Matt Damon be all ecstatic to see me working at a surf store or whatever sounds like heaven.
6. Because life is unfair and doesn’t want us to have things we like.
7. Ooh! Interesting one.. Probably my Light Between Oceans one since I fucking adored the film and it was my 100th overall post ❤ https://ghezalplusmovies.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/the-light-between-oceans-2016-movie-review/
8. I was born in the same vicinty as The Weeknd and Drake so we have that going for us.
9. More universe and Matthew McConaughey.
10. People who whistle in public.

Hello buddy! Very cool answers. DO NOT WATCH MULHOLLAND DRIVE WITH YOUR FAMILY AT CHRISTMAS. DO NOT.
I’m also not into people who whistle in public. We’re not the Seven Dwarves. Thankyou for taking part, always good to know these fun facts!

Ooooh…you paint? What medium? I work with oils…they are so nice and bold and you can mix them for ages (even a week later when you’ve decided to change something). I also enjoy sketching.

Yes indeed 😀 I use oils too. I like sketching with charcoals or really soft pencil. I’ve been practising more with painting recently, more abstract stuff.. and with sketching I like to draw faces. Fascinated with shadows and lines and stuff! Want to have a go at answering the Q’s? 🙂

Congrats on the award! Btw, by supergroup, we meant a band made up of your favourite musicians, but that’s by the by. Great answers otherwise! Cus I’m still a sucka for some questions, I’ll have a swing at these:
1. Dave Grohl, he’s like the best person.
2. I hate both. Cherry Coke, puh-lease.
3. I mean, obviously, after a car wreck on the winding Mulholland Drive renders a woman amnesiac, she and a perky Hollywood-hopeful search for clues and answers across Los Angeles in a twisting venture beyond dreams and reality. I didn’t copy and paste that from IMDb, don’t, just trust me.
4. I’ve heard you can be stoned to death for even suggesting that in some cultures.
5. The Doof Warrior from Mad Max: Fury Road.
6. Because it brings us closer to the sweet release of death. Oh, and because it’s yummy.
7. Probably my Akira review I did at the start of the year because it’s got the most likes we’ve ever had, suck on that Reuben.
https://stuffandthatreviews.wordpress.com/2016/01/31/akira-1988-review/
8. Well, I saw Tupac in a Starbucks on Thursday. I had quick chat with him. Well, I say “quick” but he sure did like to bloody talk! I was late to my niece’s christening because he just HAD to tell me about “cheating death” and “his new album” and I just straight up said “Look, Tupac, buddy, I’d love to stay and chat but I gotta get to my niece’s christening”, so I picked up my pastry and got to the church quicksmart.
9. A really big papier mache head of Shaq.
10. When the voices keep telling me to kill.
11. Not really, apart from Bush did 9/11 and the government isn’t real.
Now, please don’t kill me and keep being dope!
Milo.

Nice answers, particularly like the crime one… This is Reuben, by the way, the worse out of the terrible two here. I’ll answer dem questions, why not.
1. Adam Sandler. He’ll turn out to be a great leader despite his lack of talent in anything and hatability as a person.
2. Ovaltine?
3. There’s this guy who’s half-man, half-bear, half-pig and he cooks a guy a chicken. Then there’s an orgy?
4. Couldn’t say.
5. Snake Plissken from Escape from New York, so I can be a cool douche and not care a jot about anything for a bit.
6. It’s damn nice, that’s why!
7. Probably my review for The Bedlam In Goliath by some mental prog group called Mars Volta.
https://stuffandthatreviews.wordpress.com/2016/06/06/the-mars-volta-the-bedlam-in-goliath-2008-review/
8. Was within the radius of Harry Kane for 90 minutes.
9. I’ll just second Milo’s answer for that one.
10. When Jackie Chan isn’t called Jackie in one of his movies.
11. Nah.

Duuuuuuude. Can we NOT elect Adam Sandler to run the world, ever please? It’s not good when Jackie’s not called Jackie, I agree.

Has Tom Hanks ever given a poor performance? Not that I can recall.
Which film character would you like to trade places with for one hour and one hour only? Indiana Jones.

Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why? That’s a tough question, let me get back to you on that one.
Have you ever met anyone famous? Phil Jagielka.
What’s outside the Universe? I’m not entirely sure, but I’d love to find out.
What’s one of your pet hates? When people leave doors open and let them bang.

Ahhh didn’t know you were a wildling, that’s fairy muff but I’ll let you know for sure.

If you had to pick one celebrity to run the world (I mean have complete control over EVERYTHING), who would you pick?
Kanye West.
Tea or coffee and why?
Coffee. Because caffeine.
What is Mulholland Drive actually about, if you’ve seen it?
Never seen it. Extend me the answer.
Has Tom Hanks ever given a poor performance?
Tom Hanks can piss on children and I’ll still look at him as a hero.
Which film character would you like to trade places with for one hour and one hour only?
Coked up Michael Cera in This is The End.
Why is unhealthy food so good?
It’s the perfect combination of salt and fat?
Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why?
I’m proud of all my children.
Have you ever met anyone famous?
Recently met Tom Hardy’s dad. He’s our CD for a brand. Cool guy.
What’s outside the Universe?
Good question.
What’s one of your pet hates?
People who constantly chat during a movie. Just fucking go outside and talk man. Seriously.
Anything else to add?
This sentence. Think I’ve made that joke before, but hey, recycling is good for the environment.

Here you are. Apologies for the delay – it’s that time of the year together with a bad cold in the middle of the summer heat.
1. If you had to pick one celebrity to run the world (I mean have complete control over EVERYTHING), who would you pick? Ooh, this needs some careful consideration. I mean, everyone has their good and bad points…and if they control everything…hmmm…that could be concerning…
2. Tea or coffee and why? Tea – no doubt about it. Do I need to explain why a nice cup of tea is just perfect?
3. What is Mulholland Drive actually about, if you’ve seen it? If I admit to never having seen it…is that a problem?
4. Has Tom Hanks ever given a poor performance? Probably not…I must admit I haven’t watched him since “Catch me if you can”. Sorry. 😦
5. Which film character would you like to trade places with for one hour and one hour only? Cora Munro…I’ve always had this romantic notion of being out in the wilderness on an adventure like hers.
6. Why is unhealthy food so good? Because nothing beats a chocolate high…well, that cup of tea. Ooh, chocolated dipped in tea – the cure to a really bad day.
7. Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why? I’m proud of all of them in their own special way. But, when people let me know they like a post, then I’m really proud of those.
8. Have you ever met anyone famous? Met…not directly (as in Hello, nice to meet you).
9. What’s outside the Universe? Something just waiting to be explored. Definitely not “nothing”.
10. What’s one of your pet hates? Unreliability.
11. Anything else to add? Nope…not today. Ok, maybe – thanks for your open questions – always enjoy them…together with your blog in general!

And now, my answers!
If you had to pick one celebrity to run the world (I mean have complete control over EVERYTHING), who would you pick? Eva Green.
Tea or coffee and why? coffee. childhood addiction (yup, I’m odd that way)
What is Mulholland Drive actually about, if you’ve seen it? Gosh, that’s a hard one. A weird Hollywood reincarnation of a naive girl?
Has Tom Hanks ever given a poor performance? NO.
Which film character would you like to trade places with for one hour and one hour only? Winona Ryder in Edward Scissorhands.
Why is unhealthy food so good? I don’t know but it’s such a shame, isn’t it?
Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why? well, I did receive awesome feedback on my Wings of Desire post I submitted for the At the Circus blogathon.
Have you ever met anyone famous? yes! I once met Rod Stewart on an elevator in NYC. It was super cool.
What’s outside the Universe? wow, a wondrous galaxy filled with planets and aliens.
What’s one of your pet hates? snake. I really don’t get those people raising a pet snake and sleeping well at night.
Anything else to add? I have a dentist appointment soon and I’m dreading.

Wow, how could I have missed such a great post? Here are my answers – very late, but I hope it is still ok?
1. If you had to pick one celebrity to run the world (I mean have complete control over EVERYTHING), who would you pick? I once heard that James Woods’ IQ is 180. That’s then the man for the job.
2. Tea or coffee and why? Coffee, because it is energising and addictive.
3. What is Mulholland Drive actually about, if you’ve seen it? Oh, yes, I am an expert on Mulholland Drive 🙂 – see with spoilers: https://dbmoviesblog.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/mulholland-drive-review/
4. Has Tom Hanks ever given a poor performance? Not really, but some of his performances, such as that in “The Bonfire of the Vanities” are not particularly remarkable.
5. Which film character would you like to trade places with for one hour and one hour only? Super question. Someone above mentioned Winona Ryder, well I would love to be Winona Ryder in the movie “Heathers” – it is the definition of “cool”.
6. Why is unhealthy food so good? Because it is supposed to be 🙂
7.Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why? The Avatar vs Ferngully comparison – I wrote it in 2012 and it is still the most popular blog post in my blog.
8. Have you ever met anyone famous? A few political figures.
9. What’s outside the Universe? Another universe.
10. What’s one of your pet hates? Loud music when I am trying to concentrate.
11.Anything else to add? I enjoyed answering your questions.
