Because I want to get a sneak peek into the lives of my fellow followers – this time, my questions are FREE FOR ALL. Scroll down for the questions, paste them in the comments section and answer away!
With a big thanks to Just Shrewd Me, I have some pretty cool questions to answer. If you haven’t already, check out this guy’s blog, he’s undeniably funny and his movie intellect stretches out like the Sahara desert. I’m also going to take this opportunity to finally answer some absolutely brilliantly inventive Q’s from Ghezal Plus Movies – most definitely one of my favourite bloggers.
THE QUESTIONS from Just Shrewd Me
- Star Wars or Star Trek? Star Wars. The original trilogy. I won’t part with the VHS set.
- James Bond, Ethan Hunt or Jason Bourne? Bond, Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery Bond! Not Daniel Craig. Sorry. He needs to stop pouting.
- Cinema or Netflix or other? Cinema if you’re passionate about experiencing a movie, Netflix if you want to watch something in a degrading manner i.e. eating a shameful amount of snacks in disgracefully old pyjamas. But you could also do that at the cinema if you want.
- What’s the most overrated thing in your opinion? I’m not sure what we’re talking about, but I want to immediately say that Justin Bieber.
- What’s the most underrated thing in your opinion? Rooney Mara. Well, I wouldn’t say she’s necessarily underrated, I just want her to be in more movies.
- Favorite artist or band? That’s a hard one! I love all kinds of music. If you looked at my Spotify, you’d be like “….why?” I really enjoy Joni Mitchell, Rodriguez, Frank Ocean, Paul Kelly, The Smiths, Damien Rice, Elton John and many, many more.
- Favorite actor/actress? I would say Joaquin Phoenix. Kate Winslet, too. And Rooney Mara.
- What’s your best T.V. series right now? Stranger Things! Although it’s only 8 episodes so I’ll say I’m seriously waiting with baited breath for the next season of Bates Motel.
- If you, I don’t know, maybe got like marooned on a desert island with the choice of one, only one movie to watch on loop forever and ever what movie will it be? Closer.
- If you could spend a day with any celebrity who will it be? I would hang out with Bill Murray, I think he’d literally be up for anything.
- Wait, have you actually met one? I’ve been lucky enough to meet and converse with Sir Ian McKellen. Damn.. I wish I was sober enough to not just scream “wizard, you shall not pass!” at him…
THE QUESTIONS from Ghezal Plus Movies
- If you could have dinner with any movie character, who would you pick and why? I want to say Steve Buscemi, because I’m intrigued about how he would eat.
- What song(s) get you the most pumped when you’re driving/alone? Ocean Drive! By Duke Dumont. That’s one summery vibe.
- Are you a fan of any romantical movies? Yes please. When Harry Met Sally could be my favourite, and I think Brokeback Mountain is a really great romance.
- What movie universe from the 1980’s would you most like to be a part of? Oh wow I love this. I would really like to be in The Breakfast Club. I’d like to be the one in that final scene walking across the football pitch and punching the air to the Simple Minds track.
- When you think of the term “Bennifer”, do you picture Affleck + Garner or Lopez? I did picture Affleck and Garner, naturally. But now you’ve infected my mind with this Lopez stuff.
- Are there any movies that make you cry no matter how many times you watch it? Oh my word. Dancer In The Dark kills me. Boys Don’t Cry has made me weep on several occasions. Beaches tugs at the heartstrings no matter how many times I watch it.
- Favourite movie quote? “The price you pay for bringing up my Chinese or my American heritage as a negative is: I collect your f**king head. Just like this f**ker here. Now if any of you sons of bitches got anything else to say, NOW’S THE F**KING TIME!!!”
- You’re on a deserted island for some reason and can only watch three movies for the next year, which movies do you choose and why? Castaway, The Shallows and Swiss Army Man for tips and motivation.
- Chicken or steak? Chicken – it’s so versatile!
- Are there any TV shows you’re currently binging on or loving at the moment? I’m too obsessed with Stranger Things. I actually also became obsessed with the Netflix series Chef’s Table. I love Bates Motel and Game Of Thrones.
- How much wood WOULD a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Well it depends. We don’t even know if a woodchuck could chuck wood. So, hypothetically, if they could chuck wood, it depends what timescale they’re working with. And what tools they’re using. Also it depends on their skill as a wood chucker.
If you want to have a go, simply post your answers in the comments section. And enjoy snooping at what everyone else put.
- What was the last thing you Googled? Be honest! Even if it’s medical.
- Would you rather be a movie director, producer, actor, writer or camera operator, and why?
- Which director makes the best movies, and why?
- You have to snog one, marry one, avoid one and send one to another planet: Martin Scorsese, Tom Cruise, Emma Thompson, Sandra Bullock
- What movie offended you the most, and why?
- If you could bring one deceased actor or actress back to life, and ask them one question, who and what would it be?
- Which film has the best soundtrack?
- Should sitcoms be made into movies?
- What’s your ideal first date?
- It’s 2am, no one’s home, your TV, computer and phone has broken, there’s no books in the house. What are you doing?
- What happens when you die?
OK, here’s my best shot.
1) Just Googled the local Vet, for the phone number.
2) A Director. You can put your own stamp on the film.
3) Living or dead? If dead, Akira Kurosawa. Because he made such wonders. If alive, Ridley Scott. If only for Blade Runner, but also for The Duellists, and Alien.
4) Snog Bullock, marry Thompson, send Cruise off anywhere, avoid Scorsese. (Because of his obsession with DiCaprio…)
5) The remake of Nikita into The Assassin, or perhaps the remake of The Vanishing. Both original films were so good, and I can’t decide which remake was the worst.
6) Orson Welles. I would ask him what his favourite film (other than his own) was.
7) Either Lawrence of Arabia, or Reservoir Dogs. Depending on my mood.
8) Probably not. They have never transferred well.
9) I’m too old to imagine now…Maybe Ann-Margaret or Nigella Lawson?
10) Thinking.
11) Nothing. You’re dead.
Hope that covers it.
Best wishes, Pete.

And Dancer In The Dark was your best answer…

Very intriguing answers, Pete. I hope your lovely dog is alright, considering you’re looking for the vet’s number. My dog’s a bit under the weather at the moment, but hopefully it will pass.
I would never watch The Assassin! Not even out of curiosity, I loved Nikita too much. Great answers to all questions!

Thanks, FC. Ollie has ongoing ear problems, so I rang to get test results from swabs taken. He might have to have the ear canal removed by surgery.
Glad you liked the answers.

Yup Dancer in the Dark makes me cry everytime I see it. I enjoy Rooney Mara in the movies she’s done. Except for the new Nightmare on Elm Street. Ill haft to answer your questions later

Yes I’ll answer them here.
What was the last thing you Googled? Be honest! Even if it’s medical.
The last thing I looked for was best spy movies.
Would you rather be a movie director, producer, actor, writer or camera operator, and why? I think director, you’re the one who calls the shots.
Which director makes the best movies, and why? So many directors. Francis Ford Coppola is amazing, as is Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott. And Alfred Hitchcock is a legend.
You have to snog one, marry one, avoid one and send one to another planet: Martin Scorsese, Tom Cruise, Emma Thompson, Sandra Bullock
I’d snog Emma Thompson, marry Sandra Bullock, avoid( even though the guy is a legend) Scorsese and send Cruise to another planet. That was a hard question.
What movie offended you the most, and why? Disaster Movie, it offended me because it was so bad.
If you could bring one deceased actor or actress back to life, and ask them one question, who and what would it be? I would bring back Bette Davis and ask her whether there was truth in the alleged feud between her and Joan Crawford.
Which film has the best soundtrack? Anything by Tarantino
Should sitcoms be made into movies? I’d like to see The Simpsons get another movie.
What’s your ideal first date? A candlelit dinner.
It’s 2am, no one’s home, your TV, computer and phone has broken, there’s no books in the house. What are you doing? Being a nudist.
What happens when you die? I am not to sure, but I like to think that you go to somewhere peaceful and watch over the living.

Ha, LOVE the answers. Especially the Bette Davis/Joan Crawford one. That would be interesting to know.
Can’t believe you’d avoid Scorcese.

Davis was such an icon. I know, I love Scorsese but I only had a few choices. What did you think of my answer to what would I do if there were no computer, mobile or books?

1. I just Googled whether it’s Groundhog’s Day or Groundhog Day. There’s no excuse for me.
2. Director. I wanna be in charge of everything. Bullcrap. I’m an actor! Lord knows the melodramatic tantrums just waiting to be………
3. Steven Spielberg. ‘Nuff said. Why? Really?
4. Snog Emma Thompson. Marry Sandra Bullock. Tom Cruise is to be avoided at all costs. And Martin Scorsese should be shipped far, far away to another universe just so some other directors may have a chance.
5. The Last Airbender (2010). They cast Jackson Rathbone to play the comic relief.
6. Robin Williams. Not to ask a question but to tell him thanks for all the laughter.
7. Vanilla Sky
8. A resounding NO.
9. A movie date. So that I may do the classic arm-yawn.
10. I’m alone and you’re my roommate. You went out for the night. There’s nothing to distract me. It’s 2 A.M. You better believe you’re a fool for thinking you’d come back home in the morning to see any of the goodies you left in the fridge.
11. ??? I honestly don’t know….

Hahahahaha this is brill. Remind me never to be your housemate! And – this is worse than your Groundhog Day thing – I was 100% sure it was Vanilla Skies, not Vanilla Sky. Damn.
There’s a contradiction in there… avoid Tom Cruise at all costs… but he is Vanilla Sky. Which means you’d have to avoid the best soundtrack ever. Am I right?!

1. My bank – boring!
2. Writer / director would be cool 🙂
3. I honestly think Tarantino because he has a vision and he makes it happen. A lot of other directors are just given scripts and make a movie but he tells his story from start to finish, he writes the script, directs the movie, chooses the cast and music. With Tarantino I really feel like I’m getting something original. I know other directors work like this too (Martin Scorsese) but I love his movies the most!
4. Another planet – Tom Cruise. Avoid one – Martin Scorsese (no offence), Snog one – Sandra Bullock and marry one Emma Thompson because I think she’d be fun.
5. It’s hard to think of one! I’ve really disliked movies or found them unsavoury but I tend to try and think ‘oh well not for me, I’m sure some people enjoy it!’ I suppose that Adam Sandler movie Chuck and Larry I found slightly offensive. But I’m not really one to get on my high horse!!!
6. John Candy and I’d ask “could we hang out!”
7. Predictable but I’d have to say Pulp Fiction. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly is up there too.
8. Sure, why not.
9. Having dinner! (FOOOOOD)
10. I’d probably go to sleep.
11. Sounds awful but probably not a lot.

Very cool answers. I would definitely agree with you about Tarantino. One of the main things I love about him is how much you can feel his passion for cinema and storytelling through his films – sounds cheesy but it’s very significant!
Awh. Would be great to hang out with John Candy.

1. What was the last thing you Googled? – WordPress, predictable.
2. Would you rather be a movie director, producer, actor, writer or camera operator, and why? – Writer, I love writing and I’d rather work behind the scene.
3. Which director makes the best movies, and why? – Steve McQueen – he only made 3 “big” ones – and all of them – superb. Of course, the question wasn’t who is the best director out there, otherwise the answer would have been different 🙂
4. You have to snog one, marry one, avoid one and send one to another planet: I’d snog and marry Scorsese for some great movies he made, avoid Bullock and Thompson, and send Cruise to another planet because I am sure that is where he actually belongs.
5. What movie offended you the most, and why? None that I can think of. Sleepers (1997) did not offend me, but I found certain scenes and references very horrific.
6. If you could bring one deceased actor or actress back to life, and ask them one question, who and what would it be? Vivien Leigh – to ask her some question about her career – I find it fascinating.
7. Which film has the best soundtrack? The Last of the Mohicans.
8. Should sitcoms be made into movies? Depends which one, but why not?
9. What’s your ideal first date? Movie night.
10. It’s 2am, no one’s home, your TV, computer and phone has broken, there’s no books in the house. What are you doing? I am sleeping. I can sleep even if I don’t want to.
11. What happens when you die? You cease to exist.

These are seriously excellent answers. We’re pretty similar, I would agree with all your answers! Apart from, I wouldn’t snog Martin Scorsese.
‘Sleepers’ does explore some very dark issues.
The Last Of The Mohicans soundtrack is FANTASTIC! I’m humming it right now. Towards the end, when the are running up the rocks to try and save Alice, the soundtrack makes it really gripping.

1.What was the last thing you Googled? Distance from Aarau to St Gallen.
2.Would you rather be a movie director, producer, actor, writer or camera operator, and why? Would love to be a writer and director – I’m actually doing a mentorship thing at the moment on writing. Why? Because I have so many stories that I ‘see’ in my mind and I’d love to bring them to life.
3. Which director makes the best movies, and why? I don’t really notice directors. So bad of me. Sorry. Rebecca Miller, Lasse Hallström, Ridley Scott, John Ford…I like their work.
4. You have to snog one, marry one, avoid one and send one to another planet: Martin Scorsese, Tom Cruise, Emma Thompson, Sandra Bullock – This is a tough one…so…I’m answering with my eyes squeezed tightly shut…and I’m going to be very shallow: Marry Martin Scorese – he’s old so I could hopefully just get on with my own stuff, Snog Tom Cruise because despite wanting to send him to another planet, he’s not bad looking (I told you I was going to be shallow), I’d avoid Sandra Bullock so she could just get on with her life and adopted children without hassles and I’d send Emma Thompson to another planet….hmmm, maybe I’ll marry her and send Martin Scorsese off….darn it this is such a horrid question 😀
5. What movie offended you the most, and why? I don’t easily get offended and if it is really bad then either I switch off/walk out or just think of it as someone’s opinion and that we are all different. I do remember recently saying “This movie could offend some people” but for the life of me can’t remember. And I wasn’t offended.
6. If you could bring one deceased actor or actress back to life, and ask them one question, who and what would it be? John Wayne because he was my childhood cowboy hero and just chat.
7. Which film has the best soundtrack? Easy – The Last of the Mohicans. Always has been and always will be my absolute favourite. This is the only question I haven’t had to think about 🙂
8. Should sitcoms be made into movies? I’m not phased as I don’t watch them.
9. What’s your ideal first date? Being rescued from bandits by a handsome cowboy and riding off into the sunset. If that isn’t possible, just time together with lots of conversation and a relaxed atmosphere with no pretenses.
10. It’s 2am, no one’s home, your TV, computer and phone has broken, there’s no books in the house. What are you doing? Assuming I’m awake…then I’m writing down the stories in my mind. And…listening to the sounds outside – I love being the only one (seemingly) awake in the early hours and just listening to the coming and goings outside.
11. What happens when you die? I haven’t figured that one out. There are days I think that’s just that and all is done and other days I think maybe not.

Wow, some very, very curious answers there. Thanks for doing it, great to have an insight into your life!! I love the answer about enjoying being the only one awake at night – I agree, there’s something special about it!
The Last Of The Mohicans soundtrack is literally awesome.
I’m judging you for sending Emma Thompson to another planet.

Well…I’m judging myself with Emma Thompson but it was such a hard question….I did, though say, I might marry her…. 🙂

Thank you again! Oh wow, that’s a hard one. I always loved Return of the Jedi, I think because some of the settings were great – the battle on Endor with the Ewoks.. Then probably The Empire Strikes Back, then New Hope. How about you?

Empire strikes Back, Retirn of the Jedi and then the original. I saw the original and didn’t like it anywhere near as much and meant j got into it far slower.

Doing this from my phone so the ones I remember. The opening times of my local barber. A screenwriter. Christopher Nolan. He’s a thinker with big imagination so it really comes through. The Patrior offended me big time. As well as been hugely historically accurate regarding the Brits, it also made a guy who in trail life has a very dubious record out to be a major hero. Drive has an amazing soundtrack but Grease has the best one to sing along to. I don’t know which actor to bring back. James Dean maybe.
