Ever had one of those moments when someone is laughing in front of you and it’s so contagious that you start laughing too? Here’s 5 of some of the greatest laughs in the movies.
Vivian, Pretty Woman (1990)
This really is a perfect laughing moment, when Edward has bought Vivian the beautiful necklace. She curiously peeks into the box he holds open, before he playfully slams it shut, and she shrieks out that uncontrollable giggle. I also hear the moment was improvised too, which makes it all the more adorable.
Jack Torrence, The Shining (1980)
This character is one hell of an eerie dude as he becomes engulfed in delusion during their stay in the huge, creepy, isolated hotel. Jack Nicholson’s performance is fantastic as he stares into the camera and lets out an insane, villainous laugh.
Danny Zuko, Grease (1978)
“Me? Jealous? Oh come on Sandy, don’t make me laugh, haw haw haw haw”
The Joker, The Dark Knight (2008)
There’s lots of moments in this movie where the Joker is laughing in the most uncontrollable, unnerving and psychotic manner, and you can’t help but just absolutely love it.
Seth Rogen, in anything
This guy’s laugh is arguably one of the best laughs in the industry, even if some of his roles are the opposite.
Who’s the perpetrator of the greatest laugh in the movies?
I have a real problem with comedy in film. And as for Julia Roberts, I have just never got her. I don’t see the talent, and I definitely have never seen any ‘beauty.’ But that’s just me.
It is without doubt my least favourite film genre. Comedy means different things to different people. For myself, I wrote this some time ago, to explain the sort of comedy films I like, and why I don’t like many of them.

Since writing this, I should add that ‘Team America, World Police’ (Uncut…), ‘Borat’,and ‘Ted’, both made me laugh out loud. Then again, I also adore Stewie in ‘Family Guy’.

Thanks for reading! You’re not alone in being unsure about Julia Roberts, but I personally think she’s pretty great! Not in all her movies, but she’s done some fantastic performances in her time. Can you honestly say that smile is not beautiful?!
I’ll give your post a read, I’m intrigued now.
this post isn’t about comedy films as a genre, as such, it’s 5 moments where characters are contagiously laughing. Or executing a particularly memorable laugh. ”Muahahaha” 😀

I didn’t mean to reduce the impact of your post, and I understood the reasoning behind it. I can honestly say, that at least for me, her smile is not beautiful. I did like her performance in Erin Brokovitch, and also The Pelican Brief, but that’s about it. Then again, I concede that I am not the norm where comedy (or Julia Roberts) is concerned, so it’s not a serious criticism. I confess that I generally prefer ‘British’ humour.

I think British humour is my favourite kind of comedy too. It packs a bit more of a punch!
The Office – a perfect example of why Brit comedy works.

Definitely the Joker in TDK. Completely psychotic and a bit infectious and Rogen’s laugh is pretty good in about any of his movies.

Great choices! Yeah Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman that moment with Gere was supposedly not when they were filming properly, but it was caught with them messing around. Seth Rogan is totally a guilty pleasure of mine!
